PRESS RELEASE MERRIMACK VILLAGE DISTRICT DATE OF ISSUANCE: July 15, 2010
FOR RELEASE JULY 17 TH AND JULY 18 TH, 2010 MERRIMACK VILLAGE DISTRICT WATER BAN UPDATE MVD is announcing that effective Monday morning, July 19, 2010 the TOTAL OUTSIDE WATER BAN has been lifted. In its place a PARTIAL RESTRICTION has been implemented. The new RESTRICTION is as follows: OUTSIDE WATERING IS ALLOWED FROM 5AM – 8AM ONLY ON ODD/EVEN DAYS BASED ON HOUSE NUMBER AND DATE This easing of the total outside watering ban is possible only because of the excellent cooperation of most of the consumers. Once the ban was posted we noted almost immediate results. Our consumption was reduced from 5.3 million gallons per day (gpd) on July 6, 2010 to a current daily average of 2.4 million gpd. Our ideal summer safe production level is around 3.5 million gpd. The reduction allowed recovery in our system and a “resting” of our pumping and other mechanical equipment which is good system management. It’s anticipated that the easing of the ban will keep us within our safe production levels. Continued conservation is strongly emphasized as well as total compliance with the new restriction in order to keep us within the safe range. Over use and outside watering on the wrong days could again cause the MVD to impose further restrictions on outside watering. -END- |
