ABOUT MVD

The Merrimack Village District, or (MVD) is the water supplier for the Town of Merrimack. Although MVD water is often referred to as "town water", we are a separate municipality, not a part of Merrimack town government.

The Merrimack Village District (MVD) is a Municipal Corporation established and regulated in accordance with the provisions of RSA 52 as amended. Under this law, the District has similar powers like a town and is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners, Clerk, Treasurer and Moderator. The registered voters of Merrimack elect the officers at the District’s Annual Meeting. The MVD provides water to over 85% of the town by servicing and maintaining 842,135 feet of pipe, 839 fire hydrants, 7 wells (6 active, 1 inactive), 3 water storage tanks and 2 booster stations. The MVD manages over 7,400 customer accounts, which include residents and businesses. As the town continues to grow, new water mains and fire hydrants continue to be added to the MVD system. In 2010, the gallons of water pumped per day ran from 957,400 during the winter months to 5,315,060 during the peak summer season. The following chart shows the total gallons pumped per year for the past 5 years.

2008 846,734,256
