In ADDITION to the REQUIRED Odd/Even Schedule, MVD is requesting additional water conservation

Due to the recent dry conditions and lack of precipitation in the near forecast as well as the minor amounts of rainfall this season.  MVD is requesting assistance with water conservation to help maintain adequate water supply and prevent any further required watering restrictions. We kindly ask customers to review and implement the following conservation recommendations:

Outdoors:

Consider watering with a hand-held hose rather than irrigation or sprinkler systems. Water in the early morning or evening hours rather than in the heat of the day which can require as much as four times more water.  Consider using rain barrels to collect water for outdoor use. Be sure your irrigation and sprinkler systems are adjusted appropriately so there is no over-spray into areas that do not require water such as driveways, streets, parking lots, etc. and don’t forget to verify that they are set to comply with the odd/even schedule.

Indoors –

Leaking or running toilets and faucets are the most common cause of wasted water. Depending on the size of the leak, hundreds of gallons can unknowingly be used daily from a running toilet (for more information on water leak detection please contact us). Be sure to run full loads of laundry and dishes; partial loads can use just as much water as full loads. And avoid running water unnecessarily while hand-washing dishes (fill the sink to wash/rinse) and brushing teeth.
