Field Staff

MVD has two Field Staff departments; Treatment and Distribution.
Both departments perform a variety of duties to maintain and distribute the water supply. 

Water Treatment

MVD distributes water throughout town after treatment at the Pumping Stations and the Water Treatment Plant. MVD’s Water treated according to national standards required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as well as the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services’ Drinking Water and Groundwater Bureau to ensure compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA).  MVD’s Water Treatment Staff ensures these standards are met to provide the highest water quality possible for our customers.

 Water Distribution

The Water Distribution staff maintains the water system’s infrastructure. This includes all installations as well as the required maintenance & repairs for MVD’s water mains & fire hydrant.  In addition, they are also responsible for the Water Leak Detection Program, the Water Meter Replacement/Exchange Program, the Backflow Prevention Program and routine meter readings. 

Operations Manager
Brian Hieken

Brian joined the District in 2007. Brian has knowledge and experience in both Distribution and Treatment. He began his career as a Distribution Field Technician. In 2018 he became a Treatment Technician. Prior to his current role as Operation Manager, he held the role of Treatment Foreman since 2019.

Construction Inspection

Inspector:

    • Stephen (“Steve”) Chase – Steve has been with the MVD since 1997. During his time with
      MVD Steve has served as a Field Technician and an Assistant Foreman; in 2019 Steve became the Construction Inspector.  

Treatment

MVD’s Water Treatment Department handles a broad range of responsibilities, including water treatment process as well as the operation and maintenance of all pumping equipment. Treatment staff also utilizes MVD’s advanced computerized monitoring systems to ensure optimal water chemistry and continuously monitor the performance of each pump station and water treatment facility.

Foreman:

    • Nicholas (“Nick”) Baxter – Nick joined MVD in 2022.

Sr Utility Treatment Technicians:

    • James (“Skip”) Colburn – Skip joined MVD in 2001. He assists the Treatment Foreman in maintaining the water treatment systems at each pump house.

    • John Foss – John joined MVD in 2023. 

Distribution

The Water Distribution Department is responsible for operation and maintenance of the infrastructure that provides water not only to residential, commercial, & industrial locations, but also for the system’s fire protection services. Distribution staff is tasked with performing MVD’s operational programs including flushing, hydrant maintenance, valve exercising, backflow prevention, and the meter replacement program.

    • Nem Jankovic 

Sr. Utility Field Technicians:

    • Edward (“Ed”) Lambert – Ed has been with MVD since April 2002. He is responsible for the meter program, meter reading and other general water system maintenance.

    • Heinz Smith – Heinz has been with MVD since 2006. He is responsible for the leak detection program, outside water distribution and general repairs.

    • Jacob (“Jake”) Howe – Jake has been with MVD since 2019. He is responsible for hydrant maintenance, and other water system maintenance and repairs.

Utility Field Technicians:

    • Jason Bellemore – Jason joined MVD in 2022.

    • Ronald (“Ronnie”) Miner, III  – joined MVD in 2024.

    • Richard (“Richie”) Heaps – joined MVD in 2025.

    • Thomas (“Tom”) Glynn – joined MVD in 2025.
